Nayeon Kwak is a 7th grader who participated in Christian Youth in Action, the week-long
evangelism and discipleship training for teens hosted by Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Nayeon and 27 other CYIA students graduated from the 30-hour training on Friday,
June 13. She then applied what she learned by teaching at a CEF 5-Day Club
children’s outreach program for school age children in two local
daycares.
Nayeon taught most of the components of the 5-Day Club (Bible lesson,
Scripture memorization, games, songs, devotional, and club theme) to more than 50 children,
including giving an invitation for them to trust in Jesus.
“The children don’t know how to be saved,” Nayeon explained. “I was
scared to teach at first, but it was less scary the more I taught as I knew what to expect.
The Memory Verse was the easiest to teach, but the Bible lesson has the most
meaning. I prepared and rehearsed the Bible lesson many times.”
Nayeon taught two different Bible lessons and was involved in counseling children
for salvation after the lessons. Nayeon said, “I was happy when kids wanted to know
more about Jesus”. Nayeon even had the opportunity to pray for one child who asked to
be healed of some pain they were experiencing!
As for the week of CYIA training Nayeon went through, “CYIA was really worth it. I
learned how to teach children what Jesus did for them by dying on the cross.”
